Moving Is For Real!

In the past four months moving has been on my mind. My family has moved two states, two apartments, and into a house that we now own.  We have felt like nomads. One thing I have learned is that moving makes one think about what is necessary to keep or throw away.  Moving also makes me think about forgiveness. We move through life with unnecessary resentment or hatred toward friends, family ignoring the fact that if we forgive those who wronged us we get rid of useless junk that makes it challenging to move burden less through life. Colossians chapter 3 passage instructs us how to remove this unnecessary junk between one another.

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:12–17).

How do we leave the junk behind? First bear with one another. That means putting up with people we do not get along with. Second, forgive one another for this is a must.  The term must make forgiveness a direct command. It is part of bearing with one another. Many nations are engaged in civil war because of grudge holding and carrying the baggage of hate for centuries. We need to forgive for love of people because it helps bring harmony to our lives.  Try something new today and move on. For real this time, do the unexpected and forgive.
